About
Founded in 2016, University Hospital, located in Newark, NJ, is an independent medical center offering a wide range of advanced medical specialties. As a regional resource, it houses more than 500 licensed beds, an active medical staff of over 600, and employs over 3,000 individuals. The hospital prides itself on being the only one in New Jersey to receive Gold Plus recognition for Heart Failure and Stroke from the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, it offers 24-hour in-house coverage by general surgeons and prompt care in various specialties. It is also the principal teaching hospital of New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, and the School of Health Related Professions.
